We wanted to tell everyone more about who we were thinking of, and what we were worried about, when we were developing Klairs Soft Airy UV Essence. An “Easily Used” Sun Cream Even for People Who Hate Sun Cream
Klairs began the development of the Soft Airy UV Essence with the goal of “making a sun cream that can be easily used by people who hate sun creams.” And in order to create a product that meets these goals, we came up with four specific requirements before development.
· Less irritating to the skin and eyes.
· Extremely light-stable
· Not oily or matte
· Easily cleansed
But it wasn’t as easy as we thought to make something that met these four requirements. 🙁 It took over 1 year to find the right materials, conduct sunlight simulations, and do usability comparisons!
“Consistent” UV Protection During the Day
People use sun creams to effectively protect against UV rays during throughout the day. In order to use a product consistently, it must be easy to use, and for a sun cream to be easy to use, how it feels is as important as how it protects. No matter how good the protection numbers are, they useless if you don't use the product consistently.
That is why Klairs Soft Airy UV Essence was tested over and over. Even products with similar protective abilities on paper had big differences in feel when actually formulated, so we excluded everything that would make someone not use the sun cream. We even added a very small amount of orange peel oil because some people don't like using sun creams due to their pungent base odor. These are just some of the many considerations that went into creating a product that everyone can easily use.
Klairs Soft Airy UV Essence = SPF50+ PA++++ / PPD 22.59
It is impossible with current technology to perfectly block all UV wavelengths with just sun cream alone. And Klairs Soft Airy UV Essence is not a completely perfect product. But with an SPF50+ PA++++ rating, Klairs Soft Airy UV Essence has proven broad spectrum UV blocking abilities, including UVA1, and has received “UV blocking functional cosmetic” certification in Korea. That is why we say that the Soft Airy UV Essence can effectively protect your skin from UV rays. (*By the way, the Soft Airy UV Essence has a PPD(Persistent Pigment Darkening) value of 22.59. PPD is a figure used in the US to indicate UVA blocking ability.)
